On 29.07.2022, “World Tiger Day”, is dedicated to raising
awareness about tiger conversations. Tigers are apex predators,
playing a crucial role in maintain the balance of ecosystem. Pro-
tecting tigers also means conserving biodiversity and preserv-
ing the health of the forests they inhabit. Tigers have significant
cultural importance in many countries, symbolizing power,
courage and strength. So that their protection is crucial for pre-
serving our cultural heritage.
By understanding the importance of tigers we conducted an
awareness programme at St. Joseph Boys UP School, Calicut
on World Tiger Day. We have discussed regarding the global
and local efforts to protect tigers, highlights the success stories
and current challenges in tiger conservation. There we have
around 400 students cooperated to us and we conducted a
Photography exhibition regarding “life of tigers” taken by Mr
Anoop N M (Chairman GLUE) from different National Parks in
India.
The programme highlights the cause of animal human conflicts
and the importance. Deforestation, urbanization and agricul-
tural expansion reduce natural habitat, forcing animals like
tigers into closer proximity with human populations. And also it
leads to loss of biodiversity, communication can suffer signifi-
cant economic losses due to livestock predation and the dis-
traction of crops and the main consequence is its affects the
human safety.
Here we conducting on-going research to better understand the
tiger’s behaviour and conflict patterns and monitor the effective-
ness of mitigation strategies. Animal –Human conflict is a complex
issue that requires multi faced approach, combining conservation
science, community investment, and policy interventions.
By add versing the root causes and implementing small mitigation
strategies to reduce the conflicts and promote coexistence be-
tween human and wildlife tigers.
